VERSES
Verses manipulates experiential and performative elements in creation and during the viewing process. Commodities become cultural artifacts by simplifying subjects. Their visual representations shift from functioning as everyday goods to inviting contemplation of the values and social relationships they embody. Identifying recognizable items in created textures of dribbled, squeegeed, or splattered paint highlights the significance of unwanted objects. I use materials like the single-use nature of grocery bags or soda cans.
